Making Organic Food Accessible to all.
The Murwillumbah Community Centre (MCC) has been supporting the Tweed community for over 50 years, providing vital services such as free community meals, food hampers, and social support for people experiencing homelessness, isolation, or hardship.
In 2024, with the support of the ITV Tweed Community Initiative Fund (TCIF), MCC partnered with Raven Place Farm to launch the Murwillumbah Community Produce Initiative, a local food security project that brings fresh, organically grown produce directly from the farm to the community.
Raven Place Farm is Growing Food with Purpose
Located in the heart of the Tweed Valley, Raven Place Farm is a small-scale regenerative farm dedicated to growing food that nourishes both people and the planet. Through organic, chemical-free practices, Raven Place focuses on soil health, biodiversity, and environmental care, ensuring every crop grown gives back to the earth.
As part of this initiative, Raven Place Farm:
-
Donates land and farming time to grow two dedicated food production beds exclusively for the Murwillumbah Community Centre.
-
Provides weekly deliveries of fresh, nutrient-rich produce to MCC for use in free meals and food hampers.
-
Hosts community days where locals can volunteer, learn about regenerative and organic growing, and reconnect with the land.
-
Runs free educational workshop through MCC to help the community grow and share food together.
This collaboration ensures that those who are most in need have access to healthy, organic produce, food that’s good for both body and spirit.
Supported by the ITV Tweed Community Initiative Fund
The ITV Tweed Community Initiative Fund is designed to empower local organisations that create meaningful impact across the Tweed Shire. With this grant, MCC and Raven Place Farm are demonstrating how community-led partnerships can strengthen food security, build resilience, and inspire connection through shared purpose.
Every part of this project, from the compost to the seedlings, supports local suppliers and stays within the Tweed economy, creating a ripple effect of community benefit.
Giving Back, Growing Forward
Together, Murwillumbah Community Centre and Raven Place Farm are showing what’s possible when a community comes together to care for one another. By turning local soil into shared nourishment, this partnership grows far more than food, it cultivates belonging, wellbeing, and hope.
