Our Story:

The Dream

The Dream of Raven Place Farm

Raven Place Farm sits on a north-facing hill with Clothiers Creek flowing through it, towering bamboo, a landscape that inspired my vision. Blending Japanese food traditions with homegrown, handcrafted meals, the farm is a sanctuary where guests can connect with the land, the food, and the heart behind every dish.

Rachel's Farm

Finding a Farmer for the Farm
With a veggie patch underway and my flock of chickens growing, I was inspired by Rachel Ward’s Farm Documentary and advice from Andrew Cameron at Byron Bay Shire Council about #farmlessfarmers and #growthegrowers. My patch was struggling, yet perfectly located next to a roadside fruit and veggie stall. My next mission? Find a farmer to bring the land to life.

Together, they are strengthening food security, and fostering community connection

Wild BNB

Boosting Biodiversity at Raven Place Farm with Wild BnB

At Raven Place Farm, wildlife and farming thrive together. Supported by the Tweed Shire Council Sustainable Agriculture Grant, we’ve installed owl boxes, microbat boxes, hunting roosts, and native bee habitats to naturally manage pests, support pollination, and restore balance to our ecosystem. This project not only protects our crops but also helps native species flourish and shares practical solutions with the wider community.

Raven Place Happy hens eat Kimchi and lay super eggs

Our Happy Chickens

At Raven Place, our journey toward offering the best, pasture-raised eggs from loved chickens has evolved over time. Striking a balance between free-ranging and foxes has proved difficult despite our very best efforts.

We've shifted our focus to integrating hens into our broader farm system in our mobile chicken vans to ensure their safety, and rather than the friendly commercial laying Isa brown hens, we are focusing on resilient heritage breed hens including Sussex, Maran and Aracuana to grow a flock of rainbow egg-laying hens.  .

We proudly stock pasture-raised eggs from Limpinwood Layers happy hens, a wonderful local family farm where hens roam freely under the protection of Maremma guardian dogs.
